Recover a reliable starting point from an untidy history.
A backlog can contain several different problems: missing documents, incorrect opening balances, duplicated entries and periods that were never reconciled. We assess the condition of the records before proposing a recovery scope. The objective is an explainable baseline, not a cosmetic tidy-up.
Diagnose before rebuilding
We identify the affected periods, available backups and any prior submissions or reports that may be relevant. A sample review helps distinguish isolated errors from a wider process issue. Where information cannot be recovered, the limitation is recorded and its treatment discussed with the appropriate decision-maker.
Work through a controlled correction plan
Agreed corrections are supported by evidence and approval. We separate confirmed transactions from unresolved items, track changes and preserve an appropriate history. Corrections to earlier reported periods may need specialist assessment or additional authorisation; they are not automatically included in ordinary clean-up work.
Leave a sustainable routine
The completion file explains the periods covered, key changes, remaining questions and balances requiring future attention. We also recommend a practical collection and review routine so that the backlog is less likely to return. Historical reconstruction and recurring bookkeeping are described separately in the proposal.
Common questions
Can a completion date be guaranteed before you see the records?
No. A meaningful estimate depends on volume, completeness, access and the availability of people who can answer historical questions.
